Mid-century Modern Family Kitchen Dining Space
It was the desire to create an open kitchen dining space, whilst incorporating mid-century modern design accents, that sparked the idea for this North Leeds home renovation. This young family wanted to inject the clean lines, rich wood tones and solid colours typical of the style, whilst opening up the space to function as the heart of their new home.
With this vision in mind, they approached Emma at Anna Morgan Interiors Ilkley to bring the project to life. Emma worked closely with Sam, here at Arcade kitchens to suggest colours, layout and materials that might work.
“The kitchen space itself was originally on the small side, Arcade kitchens worked with the family to project manage their build and remove internal walls, vastly opening the space and introducing patio doors to an outdoor dining area. With a passion and professional interest in BBQ outdoor cooking, entertaining both formally and informally, would be frequent and important to the client. ”
The layout of the space took time and consideration to get right and was based around family use, the ergonomics of combining family life, outdoor dining and BBQ. Full height integrated appliances and pantry cabinets provided much needed storage space with state-of-the-art appliances chosen to improve everyday convenience, efficiency and comfort. An M-Pure Bora induction hob with ventilation, added to the design’s flexibility and took centre stage on the large island with informal bar seating on two sides. A bar area with integrated wine cooler seamlessly links the kitchen and dining spaces.
We combined a neutral light quartz worktop with our unique linoleum handle-less door in sage green with elegant oak edges. Reeded oak added an additional layer of texture to the wall cabinets. This combination perfectly exudes mid-century modern styling incorporating solid colour with a tactical, yet clean aesthetic. Subtle integrated lighting elevates the design and adds prominence and functionality. All installed to the highest specification, zoned and remote controlled for ease of use and to define specific areas when needed.
