German Kitchens

Contemporary Kitchen With Natural Tones

Looking at the chic sophistication of Tarquil and Lynne’s interior, you would be forgiven for thinking this couple already had a number of renovation projects under their belt.  In fact, this was their first together with local Interior Designer, Anna Morgan.

The couple bought their stone built, fairly modern home over 5 years ago as a gradual renovation project. As a keen cook, Lynn was keen to incorporate plenty of food storage to organise ingredients and her crockery collection. Innovative and efficient appliances were also high on the agenda for the project, to ensure Tarquil and Lynn could live sustainably whilst making the most of mealtimes. A designated dining space was important to the couple, both for everyday and entertaining.

By Summer 2023, the couple were ready to embark upon the kitchen. While considering lots of companies, they found the superior quality of German cabinetry and dedicated joinery team at Arcade Kitchens was a natural choice for them.

Leon Soundy, owner of Arcade Kitchens and Bedrooms, recalls discussing the main emphasis of the brief.

“Creating a modern, bespoke feel that reflected the couple’s style was vital to the solutions we created. We chose a handleless channel style door in our Perfect Soft, neutral teamed with a rustic oak veneer to add natural accents. We were keen to use all the space available and ensure they had solutions specific to them. For example, our veneered rustic shelves for cookery books tie in the pantry doors beautifully.”

Top of Tarquil and Lynne’s wish list was an oven with a steam function and a warming drawer, for best performance facilities, together with state of the art Bora induction hob for fume free cooking. In addition, the uncluttered modern feel was enhanced by our wall cabinets with an integral light panel. These are ideal for producing a subtle glow to both the underside and inside the cupboard. In terms of colour scheme, the couple wanted to keep the palette neutral yet warm. We created a bespoke twin-stave, live-edged tabletop with walnut butterfly inlays and contemporary industrial legs, paired with our banquet seating to create a truly unique dining space. Our tailor-made pantry solution, complete with door-mounted spice racks, provides the perfect place to store all Lynn’s ingredients and small appliances.

To complete the look, we sourced a dark quartz worktop with stormy undertones and light veining to give more overall texture, with light stone tiles to the floor. The result, a beautiful space to cook and relax in whilst being efficient and high functioning for the couple.

At Arcade Kitchens and Bedrooms, we pride ourselves on our service and forging strong relationships with all our customers. Tarquil and Lynne were delighted with their kitchen, saying:

“We would like to say a big thank you for your amazing design and love our new kitchen. You have a great eye for finding just the right thing to make it special.”
